Setting Intentions with Moon Phases

Our glorious Moon has eight phases.  There are FOUR very distinct phases in every 28 day cycle. These include:

NEW MOON:  The new moon marks the beginning of a new cycle and is a time to set intentions, and create new beginnings.  The new moon is like a clean slate because it is not visible in the sky.  You can get clear on what it is you desire in your life.

FIRST QUARTER/WAXING MOON: The moon is half shadowed and half illuminated so this is the time to take action with the new intention you set during the new moon!

FULL MOON: The moon is fully illuminated and is a time for manifestation. Anything is possible during this time because our energy becomes so strong.  It is a culmination of all that has come before it, and emotions will also be heightened.

LAST QUARTER/WANING MOON:  This phase is a time of release.  You should let go of whatever no longer serves you, forgiveness, and to start thinking, once again about the new moon, which will come again soon.

Learning to ask for what you want is very important in this practice, and consistency is definiely the key with any ritual because the more energy that's applied, the more you will receive.  Therefore, it is imperitive to keep a 29 1/2 day calendar of when the Moon is in each phase.  The New Moon is usually when most people choose to set new beginning intentions, and is a good place to start if you are new to this practice.

You may want to start a few days leading up to whichever moon phase you choose for empowerment to think about what you are wanting to manifest.  Invite this curiousness into your thoughts and meditation so that ideas can begin to surface.  It is also very important to keep a HAND WRITTEN list of no more than ten ideas you are wishing for, you may even want to keep a specific journal especially for this.  The Universe responds more to clarity and efficiency, however, no energy is ever wasted!

Once the moon phase begins, you must set your intention within 48 hours, or two days.  This is the most potent time for manifestation.

Like all other practices and rituals, your moon rituals will be a very personal journey.  What works for one person may not be as effective for another, so you must follow your intuition and develop your own set of "rules."  The most important part is that you approach this type of work with honesty, good intention and respect!
