The Universe and everything in it is made up of energy, as is the human body. The 7Chakras are spinning vortices of this energy that run up the center of the human body from the beginning of development in the womb. They are portals to our own spiritual, as well as physical experiences and can teach us much about our our own life experiences. Keeping them in balance is the most important part of ensuring our own wellbeing. We all have the inner knowledge that leads to a greater understanding of SELF.
THE 7 CHAKRAS:
1- Root Chakra:
Location: Base of spine flowing up through navel
The Root Chakra, called Muladhara in Sanskrit. Also known as base or 1st chakra begins at the base of the spine and is the center of grounding. When in a meditation, seated position this chakra is sitting against the earth and supports the being both energetically and physically. It promotes a sense of security by acting as a bridge between body and earth. When everything is in harmony with the Root Chakra you will feel a sense of contentment and security concerning survival, safety, money and shelter.
However, it is not uncommon for this chakra to be unbalanced. If OVERACTIVE, you may experience ANXIETY, and feelings of uncertainty about your security. If UNDERACTIVE, you may drift from reality and daydream a lot, finding it hard to concentrate and function in reality.
How to balance the Root Chakra:
Spend time in nature and get physical exercise
Utilize the energy of the Chakra and make sure your security needs are met
Practice meditation, and/or prayer and visualization methods
Use crystals that correspond to each chakra to help with energy imbalance
Take a Root Chakra crystal elixir
Wear red clothing and eat red foods, while thinking about this color enveloping your root chakra several times a day
Crystals for the Root Chakra: Carnelian, garnet, black tourmaline and tigers eye. Place any of these crystals (the ones that resonate most with you) on the lower abdomen just above the pubic bone while meditating.
2- Sacral Chakra-Svadhishana
Location: Just below the belly button to it's center
The Sacral Chakra is the center of human identity and creativity. This is where the force to enjoy life stems from. It allows for the persuit of happiness in pleasurable experiences such as sex. if balanced, you will fully enjoy and nurture practices of sexuality without overdoing it. You will also be fulfilled in the creative aspects of your life and focus on happiness and pleasure.
But when this chakra is OVERACTIVE, you may tend to overindulge in pleasurable endeavors. When UNDERACTIVE, you may lack motivation, feel depressed and have a low sex drive.
How to balance Sacral Chakra:
Draw energy to the heart, when OVERACTIVE
Create time to enjoy life and indulge in pleasurable activities, when UNDERACTIVE.
PERFORM HIP-OPENING YOGA
Wear orange clothing, and or eat orange foods while visualizing this color several times a day.

3-Solar Plexus Chakra-Manipura
Location: Belly Button to the connection of the ribs in the base of your chest
This chakra is where your true identity comes from, as well as your genuine self confidence. It is also where your "gut feeling" about people and situations originates. When balanced, this chakra will give you confidence and self-empowerment. You will have a very strong sense of personal truth and not doubt your decision making.
If this chakra is overactive you may anger easily and be controlling over situations and other peoples lives. It could also cause digestive or kidney issues. When underactive it leads to feelings of insecurity, lack of decision making abilities, and neediness.
How to balance Solar Plexus Chakra:
Learn something new to sharpen your mind.
Eat foods that are yellow.
Wear yellow clothing, while thinking about that color several times a day to balance your energy.
Use yoga poses, if comfortable with them, that balance the third chakra.
Crystals that balance the Solar Plexus: Amber, citrine, golden calcite, yellow sapphire
Location: Directly over heart, spreading down through the breastbone and up into the throat.
The Heart Chakra is closely intertwined with the emotions of joy, love, friendship and compassion, and also with anger, passion and sadness. When it is balanced we feel self love as well as unconditional love for others. This center can also promote healing if balanced.
If unbalanced, our lives will be overruled by negativity towards others, feeling unworthy of love, and love other only with conditions placed on them. You may also be out of touch with your own body, and feel as though a wall is built around you so love cannot get in. You feel distant from your family, friends and even, possibly from yourself. Physically, unbalance in this chakra leads to poor circulation, heart and respiratory issues, and chest pains.
How to balance Heart Chakra
Meditate on SELF LOVE
Do things for yourself, something you enjoy
Focus on loving yourself! You MUST accept yourself to energize this chakra and start to heal, and spread compassion
Wear green clothing and eat green foods
Do Heart Chakra Balancing yoga
Crystals for Heart Chakra: Rose quartz, green aventurine, olive peridot, emerald, rhodonite
Color-Blue Location: From your collarbones, through your throat and up into the eyes
The Throat Chakra allows for you to not only speak your truth, but to do it with confidence. This chakra allows for you to have a personal voice, and speak it with compassion and clarity with no apology. If in balance you can share your wisdom to help others in a very positive and caring way.
If unbalanced you may speak over others because you feel your voice or opinion isn't valued. You can develop throat pain or dental issues. When underactive, you may have been belittled so much throughout life that you no longer spek up and share feelings, which can lead to digestive issues from having to hold back your truth.
How to balance Throat Chakra:
Practice speaking up, even if it is while you are alone.
Think before you speak out, will this sound compassionate, or should I rephrase my words to better get my point accross without beligerence.
Learn boundaries. Set personal boundaries such as learning to say no, and stick to them with confidence and compassion, and no guilt.
Color: Indigo. Location: Between your eyes, radiating to your mouth and the top of your head
This chakra allows people to percieve psychic energy and intuition. and have the ability to see beyond the physical world and connect to your other senses. When in balance, The Third Eye Chakra is a beacon for spiritual enlightenment.
For most people, an imbalance of overactiveness is rare, because it takes an incredible amount of practice and being very diligent to achieve a connection. It is more common to have an underactive third eye and be focused only on your physical existence.
How to balance Third Eye Chakra:
Listen to your intuition, or "gut feelings"
Focus on cues from outside the physical realm. Pay attention to "signs" and synchronicities. Don't chalk everything off as coincidence.
Crystals to balance the Third Eye Chakra: Lapis lazuli, amethyst, labradorite, sodalite, lolite
Color: Violet, purple. Location: Top of the head, down to the eyes, and up into the infinite universe above
The Crown chakra is unique, in that it is never truly out of balance because it is always open. It is the seat of all universal energy and you should strive to live in harmony with it. To energize the Crown Chakra it is best to keep all other chakras balanced, then you will have the spiritual, emotional and physical existence needed to fullfill your lifes needs, bringing you closer and closer to enlightenment!
