What Does a Blue Moon Represent?
Saturday October 31, 2020 is a truly magical date! On this day thru November 2 we will celebrate: All Hollow's Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day. It will also mark the beginning of the dark half of the year, AND we will get to experience the second full moon of this month.
During these three days the veil between the Otherworld is lifted and it is said to be the best time to pay homage to, and communicate with our ancestors and loved ones who have passed to the other side. Recognizing and honoring them gives us a greater understanding of our past which in turn opens gateways to our own future. It also allows us to become more self aware by honoring our own legacies and family traditions.
The number 3 is representative of self expression and creativity and is also connected to our spiritual self. It reminds us of our own divine nature as spiritual beings. Therefore, these three days of celebratory time known as Hallowtide can be a favorable one to connect with our own spirituality, as well as our ancestors legacies and what we can learn from them.
~THE BLUE MOON~
Any time there are two full moons in one calendar month it is referred to as a BLUE moon. This does not necessarily mean the color of the moon is blue, but it is rather symbolic of the rarity of this event. That's where the phrase "once in a blue moon" comes from.
There are many symbolic meanings of the color blue and it's different hues. The upper chakras including the Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakra are associated with Blue, (Violet, Purple, Indigo and a lighter violet to white). Thus, blue is like the number 3 in it's relationship to intuition and interconnectedness of mind, body and spirit.
The full blue moon is therefore a perfect time for you to step out of your comfort zone in order to fully express yourself and bring your wishes and intentions to fruition by trusting your intuition. Use this incredible amount of manifesting power to your greatest advantage to self reflect, regroup and redirect.
Looking for ways to honor your ancestors, as well as set new intentions? Here are a few ideas:
By honoring ourselves first, we are able to fully appreciate and pay homage to our ancestors and loved ones who have passed on. Use your own sacred space, such as an altar or simply a place you feel safe and at peace. Then light a candle and meditate or reflect on your lineage, or a specific person or pet that was special to you and who you wish to send thoughts or messages to. If they had a special food or item, song or symbol, try using these things in your remembrance ceremony. Pay attenion to any feelings or messages that come through in your thoughts. Always say a prayer of good intention first when working with the spirit world, and use protective, calming crystals when available, such as Amethyst, Jet or Shungite.
In order to utilize the power of the full blue moon during this incredibly auspicious time you must be ready to make a resolution of things that you are willing to improve on in your life. Since we all have weaknesses, this is NOT a time to feel regretful, rather it is a time of self forgiveness and compassion. Use healing herbal or essential oil baths, journaling and self love rituals to pamper and honor yourself. Then focus on healthy self improvement, joy and love.
Most of all, rejoice in this mysterious, magical time and celebrate it for what it is; a period of remembrance and ceremony. Use only good intentions when communicating with spirit and setting intentions and you will find that your own powers of intuition and self expression will be greatly enhanced for your benefit. ENJOY!
